As IDT has full access to all system resources – it can work as a File Manager – in this case, copy files – fonts.
You can have fonts used in your document stored in 3x places:
- System folder – fonts will be available to ALL applications installed in the system,
- Application folder – fonts will be available only to Adobe apps,
- “Document fonts” – fonts will be available only for INDD file(s) located next to this folder – and won’t take system resources, won’t slow down your system.
Depends on what you are doing, what is your workflow:
- You open your document and execute dedicated Task – IDT will check used fonts, close document, create folder if necessary, copy missing fonts – from your designated repository – open document again,
- When you batch process documents – IDT can open document as “hidden”, then do as above.
So you no longer have to worry about having correct fonts installed.
