If you need to import WORD document that is “rich” – has a lot of graphic elements and text frames / boxes – like this one:

– you’ll most likely end up with text that is hard to reflow – there will always be this pesky object that is too big for your default TextFrame – heavily scaled down in WORD but resized to 100% in InDesign – and you will need to create a very big TF at the end of the Story to get this pesky element visible and accessible:

But there is a very quick and easy solution – that you can save as one or more Tasks and execute next time when you need to import WORD document.
Fiirst, you have to create an Object Style that will scale down those pesky oversized objects – you need to set SIZE AND POSITION OPTIONS:

Then select contents of the Story and just click LOAD OBJECTS in the ID-Tasker – you’ll get a list of all objects that are Anchored / InLined in the text:

Then create a very simple Task:

Then mark as Selected all found objects – right mouse button on the first column’s header to access context menu:

Then execute our Task on all objects:

The result:

All objects have “Small” Object Style applied – and no more overset text.
Next step – we want images to be resized – FILL FRAME PROPORTIONALLY:

Of course we won’t be doing this operation manually on every image.
We need to hide Text Frames first:

![](https://id-tasker.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/image-13-1024x383.png)
Then we need to create a new Task:
![](https://id-tasker.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/image-14.png)
And run it on all visible and selected objects:
![](https://id-tasker.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/image-15-1024x596.png)
Now, we will switch to TextFrames:

and execute another Task – FIT FRAME TO CONTENT:

The end result:

At this point our imported WORD document is much more manageable.
Of course it’s not the end of the posibilities offered by ID-Tasker – we can use steps mentioned above to apply a dedicated ObjectStyle to only TextFrames and another one to Rectangles.
We can apply Table Styles to Tables, edit those Tables, reformat text, create Index, Bookmarks, Hyperlinks, get some stats, etc.
And all those manual steps / operations – can be saved as Task(s) and executed on more files – today, tomorrow, next week…
