Previously, this space has been occupied by a long list of things that ID-Tasker CAN do – but this list would have to be constantly updated – which would be a complete waste of time.
Instead, let’s list things that ID-Tasker CAN’T do for you – which would be much easier:
- ID-Tasker can’t decide, if some image will look better / should be positioned on the left or right,
- ID-Tasker can’t decide, if this image should be a square or a vertical / horizontal rectangle,
- ID-Tasker can’t decide, which part of this image should be visible.
And that’s pretty much a complete list of things that ID-Tasker CAN’T do – anything else, no matter how crazy, as long as it can be clicked – ID-Tasker can click it for you.
ID-Tasker isn’t limited to communicating and controlling only InDesign – it can do the same with Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, MS WORD, Excel, PowerPoint, CorelDRAW, etc. – with anything that can be controlled through VBA / VB6.
ID-Tasker has full access to all your system resources – local databases, files, folders, servers in your local network, etc.
ID-Tasker can connect to almost anything on the web – FTP, email, web services, etc.
ID-Tasker can work 24/7.
ID-Tasker is extremely versatile – can be used by beginners or to perform simple, repetitive operations – as a “3rd, helping hand” – or can be used to automate complex workflows – import data, process data, export, upload somewhere.
You can think of ID-Tasker as a much more advanced version of Actions in Photoshop / Illustrator – unfortunately, right now, recording isn’t implemented, you’ll need to recreate your steps manually using rules/commands and save them as Tasks.
Even if you are not interested in automating things – you can always use free version as a browser of the complete structure of your document.
So, if you are here not by an accident and you value your time and money – ID-Tasker is your answer.
You can check Documentation here. It’s not a complete list as new options are added all the time.
If you have any special requirements or you want to ask if something can be automated – please get in touch.
Now, it’s time for a bold, maybe for some too bold, statement:

(Original thread on Adobe Forum) I am facing a task I’ve faced many times before, but this time on rather a large scale and with very little available time, namely to generate files for a press proof of all the images that will appear in a book, so we can check colour accuracy, etc., before…

Word Documents, Footnotes, and Adobe InDesign
Adobe InDesign offers the writer graphic design possibilities that Microsoft Word cannot match, but many writers use Word to compose the text of their documents.
